In the highlands of Rasuwa, disabled children once lived in a crumbling shelter with no medical care or warmth.

When it shut down, over 30 children were displaced. Some returned home. Others found hope through Dolma.

Piers Helsen, a friend of Dolma, lived with the children. He dreamed of building them a safe, healing space.

In his memory, Dolma partnered with Disabled Newlife Centre to build a dedicated rehabilitation centre in Gokarna. We transformed an empty room into a therapy hub, offering gait training, balance support, and cardio rehab.

Today, 20+ children each month receive life-changing physiotherapy here and Piers’ legacy lives on.

In Memory of Piers Helsen

(1957 - 2014)

Piers Helsen was a friend of Dolma and a tireless advocate for disabled children across Nepal and India. He lived with the children of Dhunche, and it was his compassion that first lit the spark for a better future. After his untimely death in 2014, Dolma Foundation and his loved ones chose to honour his legacy by continuing the work he began. The rehabilitation centre now stands in his name, filled with the love, movement, and care he believed every child deserved.

Hope grows when someone like you reaches out.
