High in the mountains of Rasuwa District, life once moved quietly between terraced fields and stone houses

That quiet ended on 25 April 2015, when a 7.8-magnitude earthquake tore through Nepal.

In Birdim and Dhunche, almost every home fell. Families slept under the open sky, roads cut off by landslides.

Across Rasuwa, 302 lives were lost, 800 injured, 37,500 homes destroyed.

Within a day, Dolma Foundation and local volunteers began the climb back — carrying food, blankets, and tents through broken trails.

Then came rebuilding.

In Birdim, the fallen community hall rose again — this time built stronger with reinforced concrete. 29 houses were rebuilt, and materials supplied for 15 more.

In Dhunche, schools and public buildings reopened, homes were strengthened, and water purification systems restored.

Step by step, the mountains stood tall again — and so did their people.
