Celebrating Dolma’s Students in Kathmandu

At the Kathmandu home of Dolma Foundation Chairman Tim Gocher, a special evening unfolded — one filled with pride, music, and shared inspiration. Students from colleges, universities, and special schools across Nepal gathered to celebrate their progress, their dreams, and the milestones they continue to achieve.

The garden came alive with traditional music performed by the talented artists of Tri-Netra Home for the Blind, whose melodies carried warmth and emotion through the night. Their performance was more than entertainment — it was a moving tribute to the power of perseverance and community.

As laughter and conversation filled the air, one truth shone through every smile and every note played: the future of Nepal is bright. Each of these young people, nurtured through opportunity and determination, is a testament to what Dolma Foundation stands for — hope in action, and potential realised.

Celebrating the Achievements of Shiva and Pasang

Dolma Foundation is proud to celebrate the remarkable achievements of two outstanding students whose journeys embody resilience, talent, and hope.

Shiva Majhi, who lost his sight at the age of 11, has earned an A+ in his Grade 12 Board Exams (A Level equivalent). An exceptional learner and athlete, Shiva joined the Dolma Foundation in Grade 6 and went on to secure third place in an International Taekwondo Tournament for visually impaired students. He also represented Nepal at the Global IT Challenge for Youth with Disabilities in the Philippines. Looking ahead, Shiva hopes to sit for the Civil Service Examination after completing his undergraduate studies — a goal that reflects his dedication to serving others.

Pasang Dorje Tamang, from Rasuwa, has been part of the Dolma Foundation family since UKG. After completing his SEE, he pursued Science (Biology) in Grades 11 and 12 in Kathmandu, achieving an A in his Grade 12 exams. Pasang now aims to study abroad and is preparing to apply for a Japanese university scholarship to continue his education.

Their stories are more than academic milestones — they are powerful reminders of what becomes possible when opportunity meets determination. Together, Shiva and Pasang exemplify Dolma Foundation’s commitment to inclusive education, empowerment, and lifelong opportunity.

Dolma Foundation Students Excel in SEE 2025 Exams

In this year’s SEE exams, Dolma Foundation students once again rose to the top. With A grades and proud hearts, they proved that hard work, even in the face of hardship, leads to greatness.

Behind every score lies a story — of late-night study sessions, shared notes under dim lights, and the unwavering belief that education can open doors to a brighter future. For these young achievers, success was not just earned; it was built, one determined day at a time.

We could not be prouder of each and every student who carried the Dolma spirit into the exam hall and emerged with results that shine. Their achievements remind us why our mission matters — and why we remain committed to standing beside every child who dares to dream, work hard, and rise.

Lord David Blunkett Inspires Dolma’s Visually Impaired Students

At Dolma Foundation, we had the honour of welcoming Rt Hon Lord David Blunkett, a Cabinet Minister in Tony Blair’s government and blind since birth. In an intimate and deeply moving conversation, he sat with three of our visually impaired students — not to speak of limitations, but of strength, mindset, and possibility.

Lord Blunkett shared how belief, perseverance, and purpose had guided his life, turning obstacles into opportunities and challenges into growth. His story reminded every listener that adversity is not an ending, but often the beginning of something remarkable.

We were also honoured by the presence of H.E. Rob Fenn, British Ambassador to Nepal, whose encouragement added to the warmth and significance of the day.

For our students, it was far more than a meeting — it was an unforgettable moment of connection, courage, and inspiration. One that will stay in their hearts as a reminder that no barrier can dim the light of determination.

Clean Water, New Beginnings: Thade Village Celebrates

For the villagers of Thade, clean water was once a distant dream. Every drop meant long walks, heavy loads, and uncertainty. But this year, after months of labour through the monsoon rains, that dream finally came true.

In partnership with The Worshipful Company of Plumbers and Highland Secondary Boarding School, Dolma Foundation proudly inaugurated the village’s new water system — one that now delivers safe, reliable water directly to homes. The transformation has reshaped daily life, bringing better health, time for education, and renewed dignity to families across the hills.

This project is more than pipes and tanks; it is proof of community strength and collaboration. The water now flowing through Thade carries not just refreshment, but pride — and the power of what people can build when they believe in a better future.

Eleven Dolma Students Shine in SEE 2024 Results

This year’s SEE results brought immense pride to the Dolma Foundation. Aaiti Maya Tamang, a bright and determined young student from Rasuwa, emerged as the District Topper in Nepal’s national Grade 10 board exams — a remarkable achievement that has inspired her entire community.

But her story is just one among many. Eleven Dolma Foundation students passed their SEE examinations with exceptional results, each one carrying the hopes of their families and the dreams of their villages.

We proudly celebrate: Aaiti Maya Tamang, Aangnima Waiba, Adson Ghale, Bikash BK, Smile Tamang, Lucky Ghale, Lhakpa Sangmo, Paro Gurung, Preeti Tamang, Samjhana Ghale, and Tsewang Paldon.

Their success is more than academic achievement. It represents resilience, hard work, and opportunity — proof that when every child is given a fair chance, they can rise far beyond the limits of circumstance.

The Dolma Foundation congratulates each of these inspiring students — for not only passing their exams but for showing what hope looks like when it’s given a chance to grow.

A New Project Begins in Thade

High in the hills of Thade, a new Dolma Foundation water project has begun — in partnership with The Worshipful Company of Plumbers. Along steep, narrow paths, villagers are carrying pipes, materials, and two massive 10,000-litre tanks to connect their homes to a hidden mountain spring.

The goal is simple, yet transformative: clean, running water for every household. Leading the work are graduates from Dolma Foundation’s 2023 plumber training programme, young men and women who once learned the craft through Dolma’s initiative and now return to apply their skills where they matter most.

This project is more than infrastructure — it is empowerment in action. Each tank lifted and each pipe laid represents ownership, dignity, and progress built by the people themselves. Together, they are not just carrying water; they are carrying the future of their village.

Dr Raman Karki Returns to Give Back

On World Oral Health Day, something truly beautiful came full circle. Dr Raman Karki, once a Dolma Foundation student, returned — not as a guest, but as a dentist dedicated to giving back.

He spent the day caring for two of our visually impaired students, Prasai Rumba and Shiva Majhi, offering not just treatment, but the same compassion and encouragement that once shaped his own journey. Every smile he restored was a reflection of how far hope and opportunity can travel when nurtured with kindness.

It was more than a check-up. It was a moment that captured the very heart of Dolma Foundation’s mission — empowering children to grow, to thrive, and one day, to lift others as they were once lifted.

Raman’s story reminds us that every act of care has the power to echo forward — turning support into legacy, and dreams into impact.

Project Plumbing: Building Skills, Dignity, and New Beginnings in Dhunche

High in the hills of Dhunche, twenty people came together with a shared goal — to learn, to work, and to build better futures. Among them were former Dolma Foundation students, Dalits, local army personnel, and others from the community. Each arrived with their own story, but all carried the same determination to create change.

Through Dolma Foundation’s Project Plumbing, participants received practical, hands-on training — covering everything from safety protocols to installation systems. The sessions went beyond technical instruction; they fostered confidence, self-reliance, and the dignity that comes from mastering a skill.

For many, it was their first opportunity to step toward independence through meaningful work. What began as a vocational course became a symbol of empowerment — proof that a simple wrench, in the right hands, can build more than pipelines. It can build hope, purpose, and a new way forward.
