Lauhrepauwa’s Story of Survival

In the quiet village of Lauhrepauwa, tragedy struck without warning. A massive landslide tore through the hills, claiming 25 lives and leaving around 30 families with nothing but the clothes they wore. Nearly a hundred people were forced to flee, their homes and memories buried beneath the earth.

Amid the devastation, the survivors found temporary refuge in the nearby Trishuli-3 Hydropower staff quarters. Within hours, Dolma Foundation was the first organisation to reach them — carrying food, supplies, and something far more important: comfort and reassurance that they were not alone.

In the weeks that followed, the Foundation helped restore hope by providing drinking water pipes, enabling the community to rebuild and regain their sense of normalcy. It was a small but vital step towards healing — proof that even in moments of immense loss, solidarity can rebuild what nature destroys.

To everyone who donated and stood by Lauhrepauwa’s families during their darkest days, thank you. Your compassion reached farther than the landslide’s shadow — it reached the human heart.

A Christmas of Hope and Togetherness in Kathmandu

This Christmas, Dolma Foundation children in Kathmandu gathered for an afternoon that glowed with warmth, laughter, and togetherness. The celebration was more than just a festive occasion — it was a moment to pause and see how far these children have come, how education has shaped their confidence, and how hope continues to grow within them.

There were delicious meals, thoughtful gifts, and heartfelt conversations that filled the room with joy. Each smile told a story of progress, resilience, and the unwavering support of those who believe in their future.

As the day came to a close, one truth shone through — the greatest gift of all was not under the tree, but in the sparkle of every child’s eyes. It was the gift of hope, burning brighter than ever.

AJWS Visits Rebuilt Bridim

High in the mountains of Bridim, a community once shattered by the earthquake stood strong again — and this time, it welcomed visitors not with sorrow, but with celebration. Members of the American Jewish World Service (AJWS) travelled to the remote village to see first-hand the impact of Dolma Foundation’s rebuilding work.

The people of Bridim, whose lives had been transformed through the Foundation’s earthquake recovery efforts, gathered to greet their guests with a heartfelt ceremony of music, blessings, and smiles. What began as a visit soon became a moving exchange — a moment of shared humanity between those who gave and those who rebuilt.

For the AJWS team, it was a powerful reminder of how compassion can travel across continents. For the people of Bridim, it was a chance to express gratitude and pride in what they had achieved together. The day ended not just in reflection, but in renewed hope for all that lies ahead.

Nepal’s Story of Rebuilding Shared on the Global Stage

At the TBN Asia 2016 Conference in Singapore, Dolma Foundation Chairman Tim Gocher brought Nepal’s story of recovery to the global stage. Speaking alongside Aavishkaar and ISDX from ICAP plc, he shared how Dolma Foundation has been rebuilding not just homes, but lives — and how strategic partnerships can transform post-disaster recovery into long-term resilience.

His message resonated deeply: rebuilding is more than bricks and mortar; it is about restoring dignity, opportunity, and hope for those who lost everything. Nepal’s journey, shaped by the hands and hearts of its people, became a powerful example of what collaboration can achieve when guided by purpose.

Through platforms like TBN Asia, Nepal’s voice continues to inspire, reminding the world that recovery is not an ending, but a beginning fuelled by unity and determination.

Nalu’s Story of Safety and Dignity

For years, Nalu Tamang lived in a fragile shelter made of tin sheets and tarpaulin. Partially deaf and without close relatives to care for her, she faced life with remarkable resilience — but when the earthquake struck, her world became even more uncertain.

Through Dolma Foundation’s rebuilding programme, Nalu’s story changed. She became one of the first beneficiaries to receive a new earthquake-safe home — built in traditional stone with a concrete tie-beam, designed to endure the tests of time and tremor alike.

The community came together with compassion and purpose. Dolma Foundation provided the materials, labour, and supervision, while neighbours lent their hands and hearts to help build a future for someone who had long stood alone.

Today, Nalu’s new home stands not just as a structure of stone and strength, but as a symbol of dignity and belonging. Though she speaks little, her radiant smile says everything — a silent expression of safety, gratitude, and hope restored.

Rebuilding Lives, One Home at a Time in Bridim

High in the mountain village of Bridim, the sound of hammers and laughter echo once more. Dolma Foundation’s rebuilding work continues, with four new earthquake-safe homes under construction for families who lost everything in the 2015 earthquake.

The progress is steady and filled with purpose. Building materials have been delivered, skilled hands are hard at work, and the foundations of these new homes already stand strong against the Himalayan wind. Within the next two weeks, four families will have not only a roof over their heads but the comfort and dignity of a home they can truly call their own.

For Dolma Foundation, each home represents far more than brick and mortar. It symbolises resilience, safety, and the unshakable spirit of a community that refused to give up. And as these houses near completion, many more are on the way — each one a promise that in Bridim, hope is being rebuilt, one home at a time.

Raman’s Journey of Determination

Raman Kumar Karki, the youngest of three brothers, grew up in rural Nepal with a dream that once seemed far away. He wanted to become a doctor — to return to villages like his own and bring care where it was needed most.

His path began with a full scholarship from Dolma Foundation to study at Highland Boarding School, where his dedication soon shone through. Raman became the District Topper in Nepal’s national board exams and continued his education in Kathmandu, earning First Division results that opened new doors.

When he later reached out to Dolma Foundation for guidance, we stood beside him as he explored his next steps. His ambition led him to Bangladesh, where he enrolled in the Bachelor of Dental Surgery programme at Mandy Dental College. Today, Raman has achieved first position in his internal exams and has been elected as College Representative for the Worldwide Nepalese Students’ Organization in Bangladesh — a testament to his leadership and perseverance.

Raman’s journey is a powerful reminder that when hard work meets opportunity, extraordinary things can happen. His story continues to inspire every child who dares to dream beyond their circumstances.

A Christmas of Joy and Wonder at Highland Boarding School

This Christmas was unlike any other at Highland Boarding School. The classrooms echoed with laughter, and the air was filled with excitement as Dolma Foundation students unwrapped their Christmas presents — gifts that carried love, care, and the promise of brighter days ahead.

Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors, every child received a beautiful present, each one thoughtfully chosen to bring a smile that could light up the room. For many, it was their first Christmas gift — a moment they will cherish long after the ribbons and wrapping paper are gone.

From all of us at Dolma Foundation, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Your kindness turned an ordinary day into a memory of pure joy, reminding us that the spirit of giving shines brightest in the laughter of children.

A New Beginning for Bridim Village

After the earthquake and the crippling fuel crisis, the people of Bridim had every reason to give up. Yet, they chose resilience over despair. Together with the Dolma Foundation, skilled workers, engineers, and volunteers from Dolma Ecotourism, the entire village united to build something stronger than what was lost — a safer, lasting community building that symbolises hope and strength.

With support pouring in from around the world, the project became a testament to what can be achieved when communities stand side by side. When the keys were officially handed over by Tim Gocher, Chairman of Dolma Foundation, the air was filled with music, dancing, and an unmistakable sense of pride.

Bridim’s new community building is more than a structure — it is a story of perseverance. A reminder that even when the ground shakes and the odds seem insurmountable, hope can always rebuild.

UK Band Raises Hope for Langtang

What began as a simple idea became a moving act of generosity. Simon and Laura from the Chemistry Team in Singapore organised a wonderfully creative fundraiser to support Dolma Foundation’s Earthquake Rebuilding efforts, while also contributing to the Singapore National Cancer Foundation.

The event was a celebration of imagination and kindness — where laughter, teamwork, and purpose came together for something bigger than themselves. Each moment reflected a shared belief that giving can be both joyful and deeply meaningful.

Through their compassion, Simon and Laura turned creativity into hope for families rebuilding their lives in Nepal. Their efforts not only raised vital support but also reminded us that true generosity knows no borders.

Dolma Foundation is deeply grateful to Simon, Laura, and everyone who took part in this inspiring initiative. Their creativity lit a path of empathy — proving that even thousands of miles away, hearts can unite for a cause that rebuilds lives.
